Milanka Ljubičić (69), the mother of Ana Walshe (39), a native of Belgrade who disappeared on January 1st in the town of Cohasset, Massachusetts, in an exclusive interview to the newspaper Nova, reveals that only a few days before her disappearance, her daughter complained that she had problems with her husband Brian (46) concerning their children. However, despite the fact that Brian is accused of murdering her daughter, Milanka still hopes that Ana is alive and that her son-in-law did not commit a heinous crime.

For the first time since the disappearance of her daughter, but also from the announcement of the news that her son-in-law was accused of murdering Ana, Milanka talks about everything that preceded the disappearance. She states that the messages her daughter sent her just a few days before her disappearance were suspicious. In the messages, Ana demanded from her mother to come to Washington immediately.

„Hello mom, could you come to Washington tomorrow?“ read the message that Anna sent to her mother on December 25th.

„What do you mean and why are you telling me this now? You should have said it a few days earlier,“ Milanka replied, to witch Anna sent her the following message: „Brian and I don’t get along.“

Milanka asked her daughter about what, to which she replied: „Children.“

In the aforementioned correspondence, Ana demanded that her mother comes to Washington during those days.

„Tomorrow. Please. For two months,“ Ana wrote to her mother.

Ana and Milanka were then arranging the date and the flight, but Ana would cancel her mother’s arrival, saying: „Perhaps you won’t need to come.“ We are making plans, probably for February.“

The next time Ana contacted her mother on New Year’s Eve at 11:59 p.m., but also after midnight, to be exact at 12:47 a.m., but Milanka did not answer. In the days of Ana’s disappearance, Milanka sends her daughter moving messages.

„Ana, where are you, my child?“ I’m not feeling well, why don’t you answer my messages?“, are some of the messages.

Despite the fact that her son-in-law has been charged with a crime, Milanka still cannot believe that it is possible that Brian laid a hand on her daughter.

„And his lawyer also announced that there is no official confirmation for the suspicions that have been raised against him, and on top of all that, no one called me as her mother either. On the other hand, if he had committed the act for which they allegedly suspect him, would he really have left that internet search, was he really not capable of concealing the evidence?“ Milanka asks.

She points out that she spent a lot of time with her son-in-law and daughter, and that she cannot believe that his love for Anna was not real.

„He adored my child. Once when they were in Serbia together, he told me that he didn’t know if he could function without her. He loved coming here, he adored Serbian food, they even planned to buy a bigger apartment in Belgrade. Well, he saved my life too. After all that, I can’t believe that he was able to lay a hand on Ana,“ Milanka says.

The mother of the missing Ana states that she heard from her older daughter after the trial.

„I talk to my older daughter every day. Journalists come to her as well, but neither she nor I want to make any statements, because all the information we have are from the media outlets and news portals. We are expecting some kind of official information, and until then I simply cannot believe that all this is true“, says Milanka and adds:

„I feel that my daughter will appear from somewhere. Ana was always smiling, cheerful, hardworking, everyone loved her, she was never angry. But the same goes for my son-in-law. He is the same. I lived with him under the same roof for 16 months. I can’t believe the things they publish, my mind can’t process that,“ says Ana Walshe’s mother through tears.

After everything that happened, today Milanka says that she can’t regret that she didn’t pack up and go to her daughter on that December 25th.

„Maybe everything would be different now. If it’s true that Brian did all that, maybe my daughter wouldn’t be missing now and she would be with her children,“ she points out.
